Junior's: 5 to 15 Years Old

U12’s and U10’s played 5 x 15 min matches against Dunfermline Carnegie, Kinross A, Kinross B, Perthshire, and Blairgowrie. It was great to see so many young players, starting out on their hockey careers, with their supportive parents facilitating a great atmosphere. These events really help young players start to develop team competitive skills.

The U12’s played reasonably well and enthusiastically on the frosty morning narrowly losing to Kinross, Blairgowrie and Dunfermline Carnegie. However Stirling were well beaten by Perthshire who played a particularly attacking hockey. Stirling won their last match easily over Kinross B, finishing on a high. Dunfermline Carnegie went on to narrowly win the tournament over Perthshire and Blairgowrie. Special mention goes to Caithlin who was our best player both defending well and attacking swiftly. Well done also to Cammy, Ryan, Kieran, Meg, Tom, Robbie, James H, Sally and James for trying hard and keeping positive until the last minute in every game. I saw some great team spirit developing. We all had fun. It is more important at this age group that players learn to compete rather than focus on winning. This was a good learning experience for our young players.

The U10's also faced some tough opposition from Kinross, Perthshire, Dunfermline and Blairgowrie. Craig, Eva, Bethia, Fraser, Sally, Robbie and Tom worked hard but lost their first three games. The final game was against Perthshire and by working as a team they won. Before the start of each game the players decided on the three things that they wanted to work on and did their best to concentrate on these. It was great to see the number of young children involved in the tournament and having fun playing some competitive hockey. Dunfermline were the winners of this group too
