Stirling Wanderers Ladies 4 - Boroughmuir 0

Stirling Wanderers Ladies faced National League Div 3 bottom of the table Boroughmuir at Forthbank this week. Stirling started off sluggishly, with a number of players below par due to illness. It wasn't until just before half-time that a short corner feed from Catriona Shields was cleverly deflected past the keeper by Shuna Cant, giving Stirling the edge. Stirling were lucky to maintain this lead, as Boroughmuir should have been awarded a penalty flick that wasn't spotted by either umpire. The second half began brightly for Stirling, with player of the match Cant working in centre midfield to hammer the ball up the pitch to Netty Horne who grabbed a second goal for Stirling. The defensive team of Fiona Ramsay, Jacqui Nicol, Carol Anderson and keeper Alison Dawson did well to clear a number of shots from Boroughmuir as the Edinburgh side sought to stay in touch with Stirling. However Susan McCurry, struggling with illness, put the match beyond Boroughmuir's reach with an unstoppable ball into the goal at a short corner. At 3-0 the match was won, but Stirling continued to pile on the misery with Fiona Harfield working with Lindsay Bateman in midfield to set up talented teenager Christy Hamilton who deflected the ball high into the Boroughmuir net. The final result of 4-0 will give Stirling (currently resting midtable) some confidence as they host Ayr next Sunday at Forthbank.

Stirling Wanderers Ladies 2nds also won their match against Trinity Waverley Inveresk 3rds, and remain unbeaten and top of the table within the East Division.
