As we are coming towards the end of the season, changes are afoot at the club in terms of personnel. One of the most important elements of the club is the junior section, not only because it develops young players, but it is also a significant contributor to the club finances. Colleen Swagar will be leaving the club (and the country!) at the end of May and therefore two positions are now available within the junior section (Colleen has been doing both).
Junior Convenor – this is a voluntary role and oversees the junior section within the club. Colleen has developed a good team of helpers (parents & members) and so this position is well supported in terms of delivering the junior sessions & competition opportunities.
Club Pathway Coordinator – this is a paid position (approximately 10 hours per week & currently shared between 2 people) and is primarily responsible for our links with the Secondary Schools. This is funded by sportscotland until September and thereafter the club committee will review it and identify a route for sustaining it in the longer term. It is a great opportunity for anyone looking to go into sports coaching or development, or someone who just fancies a wee job to keep themselves amused. The holder requires to be a qualified coach, but we can work with anyone interested to support them with this if they do not have a qualification already.
I have attached an outline of both roles here with an overview of the junior structure for those who are less familiar with it. We normally hold summer camps and so it is important that we identify people for these roles soon to allow planning to take place. Alternatively, if you would be interested in being involved in the summer, but not in the longer term please also let me know.
Please speak to any member of the committee if you are interested in finding out more about any of these roles.
